The Ruyat Hilal Committee - Japan supports the religious life of Muslims in Japan by integrating astronomical observation with Islamic tradition. We are an organization that contributes to the unity and development of the Islamic community in Japan through providing accurate Hilal observation information, scheduling guidance for religious events, and promoting cultural understanding.
Mutual Understanding and Collaboration Locally and Globally
Our committee actively cooperates and exchanges information with domestic Islamic organizations and overseas astronomical research institutions. By deepening mutual friendship among members and promoting the unity and cooperation of the entire Ummah (Islamic community), we aim to realize the sustainable development of Islamic culture in Japan and contribute to society.
Supporting Your Religious Life Through Accurate Astronomical Observations
Our committee accurately observes the Hilal (thin crescent moon), which marks the beginning of the Islamic month, from multiple observation points in Japan. By combining the latest astronomical data with traditional observation methods, we rapidly disseminate highly reliable information to the entire community, providing exact schedules for important religious events such as Ramadan and Eid.
We promote academic research on the relationship between the Islamic calendar and astronomy, while regularly hosting lectures and seminars. Spanning from foundational knowledge of astronomical observation to its connection with faith, we aim to deepen the understanding of Islamic culture throughout Japanese society and realize multicultural coexistence.
